Free-For-All Friday! (June 28th, 2013) and Getting Wild!

It's Friday, it's Friday! Friday's my favorite day!

Let me start by giving a birthday shout out to one of my best friends - Happy Birthday Whitney!
It’s her golden birthday – turning 28 on the 28th.

This week went by fast and now it is Friday, so that means…..

I found this week’s Free-For-All Friday! and became obsessed with it! I started using a clip chart 2 years ago and really like it. When I saw Cupcake for the Teacher ‘s freebie I had to have it.
Her Chevron Clip Chart is so cute and full of extras to go along with the chart! I hope you enjoy this freebie as much as I did.

I LOVE getting requests on Teachers Pay Teachers! I got one this week from a lady who wanted my 3rd Grade math vocabulary cards in animal print. To start on her request I had to find some animal print backgrounds… Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah had some really cute ones, and they were on SALE!
SO, here are my new Common Core 3rd Grade Math Vocab Cards in Animal Print.

Let me know if anybody wants 1st or 2nd grade vocab cards in this print, I’ll be happy to make them!

Filling My Time

At the end of the day when my husband comes home and asks what I did today, I often think WHAT did I accomplish? WHAT did I do with my valuable time off? I manage to fill my summer days keeping busy. Between laundry, cleaning, playing with the puppy, or reading the latest Mary Kay Andrews book, I often find myself in my office. I’m either making banners & things on my Cricut or sitting behind the computer. Either way, I am constantly doing something!
After I finished scanning all the files I brought home from my classroom, I moved on to my next tech-savvy project.  I started using my old iPhone and iPod in my classroom toward the end of last year. Well, I found this fabulous idea of Pinterest… convert your listening center tapes to MP3s! Here is the link to the original idea. So, I ordered an AGPTEK USB Cassette Converter off of Amazon earlier this month. It is so easy to use! The only con is that you have to listen to the story while it is recording. (I usually blog-stalk on my phone during that time).
(Here is my recording studio/ office.)

I LOVE how Molly at Lucky to be in First has her iPod listening centers set up. If you are thinking of converting your tapes check out her post about ditching the tapes and moving to MP3s.

I have also been creating a few new Common Core items! I don’t know about y’all, but I LOVE LOVE LOVE chevron! I have created a few chevron themed items for my TPT store. Check them out:

And here are a few other items I have created recently:

Get the Summer Started!

First of all, do you love the new blog make-over? The design is from Dreamlike Magic. I love it!

Woo hoo! I've officially been out for a week, and I am ready to get the summer started! Closing up my room was pretty easy.

I am fortunate enough to be staying in the same classroom and grade level next year (I'm even going to be grade-level chair)!

This is my room, more than half-way done closing it up.

I spent part of one of my post-planning days organizing my files. I weeded out all the old copies that I never use and all the duplicates. I'm such a tech-nerd, but for my birthday I asked for a portable scanner. I have already scanned all my math and reading/ELA files! My filing cabinets are no longer bursting! Only exemplars, crafts, or games are left in my files.

Just have to scan my science, social studies, and holiday folders. It seems like a lot, but it doesn't take long. I'll save the rest for a rainy day.

What else have I been up to on my week off? Playing with our new puppy! The husband and I were planning on getting a dog once school got out, but he surprised me back in April. We got a golden-doodle! Her name is Rosie and we love her. She is super smart and full of energy.
She is only 8 weeks old in this picture. She is a bit bigger now (14 weeks old). She should be about 40lbs, but I would love her to stay small forever.
